Drifting Sun Sound is an Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti area recording studio located in the dark recesses of a garage a basement an undisclosed location (someone stole my 70's Fender Dual Showman, so now I'm not telling where my stuff is)... It is more than a "home studio" but less than a penguin exhibit at the local zoo.

Final vocals have been tracked for the Utility Monster EP. Lots of mixing ahead...

2010.01.23

Utility Monster arrived in full force (and a few minutes early) for recording. We tracked 6 songs, but we are only keeping 5. The rough mixes sound pretty good. Pictures to come...

Greg from Utility Monster brought his drums over today. Tyler Habrecht spent hours cleaning, tuning and other drum tech-ing them. Then we mic'ed em up, and they sounded great. Pictures to come...

Happy New Year... working on a new WordPress driven site, but since I write code for a living, it sits way on the back burner... In the mean time, I have re-uploaded the three songs that were previously hosted by the now defunct BMuze.com. They are now hosted here in the same location as my site, with BlueHost.

2009.04.02

I have a new host, Blue Host. Hopefully soon I will have time to upload the audio samples that were previously posted on the now defunct bmuze.com

Tyler and I put some finishing tweaks on an old Muzz and Remus track last night...

Title: Struggle Artist: Muzz and Remus

My new mixing room is finished (minus a few finishing touches) and the gear is set up and tested... Hopefully new mixes will be posted soon.

2007.12.18

I am close to getting a mobile setup going. I have a new laptop and am working on building a new room. Hopefully I will have time to do more work on this site as well...

Drifting Sun is in suspended animation as I have moved and enrolled at the University of Michigan - Dearborn. If I can find a way to set up my studio in my new diggs, I will, but for now I am limited to driving back to Ypsi to work on any projects.

2007.07.01

I have completed recording and mixing a five song EP with The Disparity Clause. Justin plans on having it mastered, and hopefully I can post the results shortly afterward.

More samples to come on a new audio page...

Also, I have added a "gear" page, hopefully soon I will have time to add proper navigation to this site...

Welcome to Drifting Sun Sound...

The site is being re-launched with a new design and no content, but content will be added soon (ok, maybe not soon).

Construction on the studio space was completed this summer and a few "test" recording sessions have taken place, so, hopefully, this site will begin to fill up with details on the inner-workings of the garage, er, studio.

Potential content will include, but is not limited to:

  • Pictures of the various "artists" (with and without pants) as they willfully submit their aural sqonkings to tape, er, hard-disk
  • Audio samples of the aforementioned sqonking
  • Recording tips or "how not to" advice
  • Links to various other world wide web locations
  • Gear lists
  • Pie charts and bar-graphs of various data, because anything can be proved with statistics, 4 out of 5 people know that...

In the mean time, do not waste your valuable finger-clicking energy going to charleshuber.com, because there is nothing there but a default place holder.
